Worship Pastor

Evergreen Church

Work authU.S. authorization required
LocationSpringfield, TN

About This Role

Evergreen Church is seeking a full-time Worship Pastor to lead our contemporary worship ministry across two Sunday services. You'll lead a team of volunteer musicians and vocalists, plan and execute weekly worship sets in coordination with our preaching calendar, and help disciple our worship team spiritually — not just musically. This role also oversees Sunday morning production and works closely with our Lead Pastor on the overall worship experience.

About Evergreen Church

Evergreen is warm, relational, and unpretentious. We value authenticity over polish — our staff meetings start with real check-ins, not just logistics, and we'd rather admit we don't have something figured out than fake it. Collaboration is expected, ego is not. We celebrate wins loudly and process setbacks honestly.

By 2030 we will have planted two new congregations in underserved parts of Middle Tennessee, doubled our active small group participation, and sent out a resident cohort of at least six leaders trained and released for ministry elsewhere.

Mission

We exist to help people in Springfield and beyond know Jesus and grow together in faith, community, and service.

Our Community

Springfield is a close-knit town that still looks out for its neighbors — you'll run into three people you know at the grocery store, and that's a feature, not a bug. We get to be part of that fabric every week, and we love that our church's growth has tracked right alongside the town's.

Our Story

Evergreen Church was planted in 1998 by five families who'd grown tired of driving forty minutes to the nearest church that felt like home. We met in a school gym for three years, then a strip mall storefront for six more, before moving into our current building in 2011. We've renovated twice since — most recently in 2022, when we redid the worship center and added a nursing mothers' suite. What hasn't changed: we're still led by people who remember meeting in that gym.

Ministries

  • Sunday Morning ServiceTwo services blending contemporary and blended styles, led by a volunteer worship team of roughly 15 rotating musicians and vocalists.
  • Youth MinistryWeekly gatherings for middle and high schoolers, plus a summer mission trip and a fall retreat that's become a highlight of the ministry year.
  • Children's MinistrySunday programming for infants through 5th grade, structured around a rotation curriculum with dedicated, background-checked volunteer teams per age group.
  • Small GroupsRoughly 20 active home groups meeting weekly, covering a mix of sermon-based discussion, book studies, and prayer-focused gatherings.

Outreach

  • Community Food PantryMonthly food distribution run in partnership with two local nonprofits, serving an average of 60 families a month.
  • Backpack BuddiesA weekend food-backpack program for kids at a nearby elementary school who qualify for free/reduced lunch, run in partnership with the school counselor's office.

Our Building & Sundays

Fellowship hall with a full commercial kitchen, and a multi-purpose gym used for youth activities, community events, and overflow parking-lot ministry rain dates.

Renovated the worship center in 2022 (new sound system, stage, and lighting) and added a dedicated nursing mothers' suite the same year.

Coffee and fellowship in the lobby starting 30 minutes before each service; a staffed prayer room is open the same window for anyone who wants it.

What We Believe

Arminian

Evangelical and non-denominational, with a contemporary worship style and a strong emphasis on grace, community, and practical discipleship.

Not formally affiliated with any denomination or network, though our elders participate in a regional pastors' cohort that meets quarterly.

Where We Stand

View of Women in Ministry
Women serve in nearly every ministry capacity except the senior pastor role.
Also worth knowing
We hold to the authority of Scripture and the centrality of the gospel. We try to hold biblical conviction and genuine pastoral care together — we don't lead with politics from the stage, and we want anyone walking through our doors, wherever they're starting from, to feel like they can stay long enough to actually hear what we believe and why.

Recent Wins

Launched a second Sunday service to accommodate real growth, completed the sanctuary sound and lighting upgrade, and grew weekly small group participation by roughly 30%.

What's Ahead

Relaunching our young adults ministry, which has been dormant for two years, and exploring a second campus location on the east side of town where a lot of our newer families are actually moving.
